Becky Holuk
Biography
Calgary artist Becky Holuk creates colorful semi-abstract work in acrylic paint. After completing the four-year Visual Communication program at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, and working for 10 years in that field, Becky made the leap to fine art 15 years ago. Experiencing the majestic beauty of the Canadian Rockies and the West Coast gives her an opportunity to ‘observe, record and reflect’ for later artistic pursuits in the studio.
“When I paint, it's the memories of a place -- the atmosphere and feelings I recall which influence and shape my creative process. As I layer paint, shapes emerge and change until the moment comes when the painting is finished and I can say yes, this is what I remember -- this is the beauty and joy I experienced that particular day! I am grateful that through my artwork I can share with others the way I experience the world and the simple beauty and wonder of Life.”
