Julia Lucich
Biography
Julia Lucich's approach to art is similar to that of her life: She relishes variety. In fact, her formal education was un-artistic; Julia earned degrees in both sociology and criminology. Yearning for something more expressive, she turned to painting, and in particular, to portraiture. Julia was then fortunate enough to come under the tutelage of master portraitist Bob Gerbracht whose instruction in pastel was immediately embraced by Julia for its vibrancy and spontaneity.
Julia's colour interpretations come from her personal experience—that colour has the ability to influence the power and impact of a painting. She decided to introduce colour completely outside of the normal range for the whimsical properties they lent to the painting and viewer's experience.
Her first collection of the sort was the Party Animal Series, and was selected by USArt magazine as "Editor's Choice" for wildlife. To anyone with an appreciation for whimsy, a narrative quality and an emphasis on mood, emotion, and out of box thinking, this artwork will compel you to follow Julia in her adventures in "wildlife art".
