Biography

Julia Veenstra is a vibrant and impressionistic painter. She strives to capture a moment in time that brings comfort to the viewer Working as a studio artist, she creates large format paintings that capture the imagination.

Her paintings “draw a viewer in, they make an impression and cause joy”. Her paintings are a study of colour, light and shape. Beautiful negative space is as important to her as the positive space in her creations. Her strokes are fresh and vigorous. You can sense movement and almost feel the wind!

Julia studied Illustration at Sheridan College and her journey since then has caused her to live in the USA, Kenya, Tanzania and then back to Canada. Her work is collected around the world and she is carried by galleries across Canada from Montreal to Kelowna.

Julia has been recognized in her field with various awards and accolades. She has been featured in several magazines and television shows and is often sought after for her opinions and for what new events she will be holding. Her Square Foot Show that is held in her studio yearly is a sellout for her and she enjoys promoting other artists work as well.
