Biography

David Zimmerman creates richly textured, high-gloss paintings shaped by a life spent in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where he lives in Bragg Creek with his wife and their four children. An avid hiker, mountain biker, and camper, he draws on the open contours of the Canadian landscape as a starting point for a process built on juxtaposition, layering thick gel mediums by hand to create surfaces that shift and change under different light and from different angles. Rather than aiming for straightforward reproduction, he treats painting as an interactive process, allowing unplanned textures and expressions to emerge as he works. Beyond the studio, he has been an active builder of the local trail network and a dedicated volunteer in his Bragg Creek community.

By day, Zimmerman serves as senior pastor of Bragg Creek Community Church, a role that reflects the same community-minded spirit found throughout his art and volunteer work. His paintings are recognized across Canada and the United States for their distinctive high-gloss finish.
